The FCC and FTC have jointly created a national do-not-call list. Though it has many exemptions (survey / political / nonprofit - tax exempt junk calls) it does prohibit some junk sales calls to residents who are on the list.
Yet some firms continue to make millions of prohibited calls every day. The F.C.C. is moving against telemarketers that use prerecorded messages and junk faxers to advertise products or services.
If you've received such prerecorded junk calls or junk faxes, the Federal Communications Commission wants to know.
